Amenity Areas

Lawshall Community Playground is situated on the meadow next to The Glebe Estate. It is located on .611 of an acre of land that the Parish Council owns. The remainder is owned by Suffolk County Council.

In February 2012 the Parish Council purchased the remainder of the land from Suffolk County Council. This purchase was made possible from the S106 Recreational Funds available to Lawshall at Babergh D.C. The whole of this area is now in the ownership of Lawshall Parish Council and is registered to this effect. A survey was undertaken throughout the village for a name for this area and various names were considered. Some research was undertaken and it was discovered that in the 14th Century this land was known as Walchers Tenement, so this meadow has been named as Walchers Meadow.

On the 1st August 2012 the administration of the Playground was taken over by the Parish Council. This was due to the fact that the Trustees wanted to retire and could not find anyone willing to take on this task.
